New Pilot Academy
“Every veteran pilot once undocked for the first time.”
Welcome to EVE Online and Last Stand Enterprises (LSE).
EVE can seem overwhelming at first. Thousands of ships, hundreds of skills and a universe where almost anything is possible. Don’t worry—everyone starts exactly where you are now.
This guide will help you survive your first weeks and begin building your career within Last Stand Enterprises.
1. What is EVE Online?
EVE Online is a single-shard sandbox MMO.
Unlike many games, there is no “correct” way to play. You choose your own path.
Some players become:
- Miners
- Industrialists
- Explorers
- Traders
- Mission runners
- Pirates
- Fleet commanders
- Logistics pilots
- Alliance leaders
Many pilots enjoy several careers over time.
Your character improves by training skills in real time, whether you’re online or offline.
2. High Security Space
LSE is based primarily in High Security Space (High Sec).
Security Status determines how dangerous a system is.
| Security | Name | What to Expect |
|---|---|---|
| 1.0 – 0.5 | High Sec | CONCORD punishes aggression. Safest space. |
| 0.4 – 0.1 | Low Sec | Limited protection. PvP is common. |
| 0.0 | Null Sec | Player-controlled space. |
| -1.0 | Wormhole Space | No local chat. No CONCORD. Extremely dangerous. |
High Sec is safer—but never completely safe.
Always fly as though your ship can be destroyed.
Because one day it will be.
3. Never Fly What You Can’t Afford to Lose
This is probably the most important rule in EVE.
Ships are ammunition.
Every ship will eventually explode.
If losing a ship would stop you playing, don’t undock it.
4. Skill Training
Skills train in real time.
Always keep your skill queue active.
Early priorities include:
- CPU Management
- Power Grid Management
- Navigation
- Mining
- Drones
- Shield skills
- Spaceship Command
Don’t rush into the biggest ship.
A well-skilled smaller ship is usually far more effective.
5. Your Career Path
At LSE we recommend something like:
Starter Ship → Venture → Mining Barge → Exhumer
As your income grows you can explore:
- Hauling
- Manufacturing
- Planetary Industry
- Trading
- Combat
- Fleet Boosting
There is no wrong path.
6. Join Fleets
Playing with others is the fastest way to learn.
Mining fleets provide:
- Mining boosts
- Protection
- Advice
- Shared experience
- Better ISK
Don’t be afraid to ask questions.
7. Learn the Interface
Spend time becoming familiar with:
- Overview
- Directional Scanner
- Local Chat
- Inventory
- Fitting Window
- Wallet
- Assets
- Skill Queue
Knowing where things are saves time later.
8. Bookmarks
Bookmarks are incredibly valuable.
Bookmark:
- Stations
- Mining locations
- Safe spots
- Warp-in points
- Tactical positions
Experienced pilots use bookmarks constantly.
9. Stay Aligned
If danger appears, the fastest ship to escape is one already aligned.
When mining or waiting:
- Pick a station or structure
- Align towards it
- Stay ready
Good habits save expensive ships.
10. Watch Local
Local chat is one of your best intelligence tools.
Unknown pilots entering system may simply be travelling—or they may be hunting.
Stay alert.
11. Ask Questions
Nobody expects new pilots to know everything.
The only mistake is staying silent when you’re unsure.
LSE leadership would rather answer ten questions than replace one unnecessary ship.
12. Communication
Read:
- Corporation announcements
- Fleet MOTDs
- Discord updates
- Ping notifications
Important information is shared there first.
13. Mining in Last Stand Enterprises
Mining is our primary activity.
Our fleets focus on:
- Moon Mining
- Ore Mining
- Ice Mining
- Fleet Boosts
- Efficient operations
- Ore Buyback
Mining together earns more than mining alone.
14. Making ISK
Your first goals should be:
- Replace your Venture
- Buy better mining lasers
- Build a financial cushion
- Upgrade to a Mining Barge
- Continue improving your skills
Avoid spending everything on shiny ships.
Cash reserves keep you flying.
15. Common Beginner Mistakes
- Flying ships you can’t afford
- Ignoring the skill queue
- Undocking without checking fittings
- Mining while AFK
- Ignoring Local
- Not asking for help
- Buying expensive modules too early
- Chasing every activity instead of mastering one
16. LSE Expectations
We ask every member to:
- Be respectful.
- Help fellow pilots.
- Follow corporation rules.
- Join fleets when you can.
- Learn continuously.
- Have fun.
Real life always comes first.

Final Thoughts
EVE Online rewards patience more than speed.
The pilots who succeed aren’t always the richest or the most skilled—they’re the ones who keep learning, work well with others, and don’t let setbacks stop them.
Every fleet, every asteroid, every market trade and every explosion teaches you something new.
At Last Stand Enterprises, you’re never expected to know everything from day one. Ask questions, take part, support your fellow pilots, and enjoy the journey.
Welcome to the corporation.
Fly safe, mine smart, and we’ll see you in fleet.
